Strietman designs and develops manual espresso machines since 2011. Founder Wouter Strietman explains the strength of simplicity.

“The machines I like the most are always those with a human element. A physicality to their operation, a robustness to their mechanism, and an infinite nuance to their output. I saw this in the first vintage Italian espresso machines I encountered. Instead of dials and indicators and noisy electronic pumps, there was just a single lever. And the irresistible urge to pull it.

That incredible purity of purpose has inspired every espresso machine I’ve created. A technology that’s made visible, touchable. That neither holds your hand nor punishes you for experimentation. A ritual that becomes an artform, driven by the knowledge that the next cup will be better than the last.

It’s this simplicity which drives me and drives Strietman as a company. We operate as a microfactory by choice, ensuring that every machine we produce will stand up to a lifetime of daily use. You can feel our obsessive attention to detail with every use. And you can taste your increasing skill in every shot you pull.”

Purity of purpose

“When you strip away all that’s inessential, only the truth remains. Without compromising on materials or manufacturing, the Strietman CT2 embodies this design philosophy to the fullest extent.”

Developing greatness

“It takes committed and highly skilled people to bring any product to life. I’m hugely proud of the Strietman team and everything they accomplish. With peerless attention to detail and endless enthusiasm, they ensure that every Strietman machine reaches its owner in perfect condition.”

Our original wall-mounted lever machine

The ES3 was built to be a permanent home fixture, introducing the signature lever mechanism that would eventually evolve into the CT2. The ES3 is extra practical for small kitchens, as it doesn’t take up any countertop space.

Following the ES1 and ES2 prototypes, the ES3 was produced in small batches between 2014 and 2017 and introduced the first iteration of the Strietman brew group.

Our first countertop revolution

The CT1 adapted the ES3’s robust technology into a more accessible countertop unit. First released in 2015, the CT1 was optimised for espresso novices and experts alike.

Its revolutionary design garnered a cult following, attracting international attention throughout its lifespan. After four years of steady refinements and a limited production run, the CT1 was superseded by the current CT2.
